Autumn 2011

The nature of things in our backyard. We moved in mid-August to a house in Hopkins, and for the first few weeks I set up a camera near our bird feeder to greet the birds of the neighborhood. We have been enjoying the cardinals, chickadees, nuthatches, sparrows and bluejays. We also have a chipmunk that we call Pig because he or she likes to fill his or her mouth until capacity at every chance.

One of the highlights was capturing an image of a hummingbird in flight. I was watching the feeder when a hummingbird zoomed in and flew right into the frame for a second. Fortunately, I was ready with a cable release and a high speed shutter. Fun!

About scott

I live in Minneapolis Minnesota and have a passion for making portraits with view cameras and large format black and white film. In the last ten years, I have been drawn to older film cameras and large film formats up to 8x10 inch negatives. I also spend a fair amount of time perfecting recipes for home-made pizza and vegetarian soup. When not engaged in the aforementioned pursuits, I think about which mountain I will hike next.
