Soon we came out of the trees and on to a rocky path that continues steeply for a while up to the prominent Lion Head rock formation. I was following Bill and we did a little extra credit climbing up the left side of the Lion Head. You can smartly avoid this by staying to the right - the path is hard to follow sometimes. It was windy between the trees and Lion Head and I thought we might get a taste of what Mount Washington is so famous for. Between Lion Head and the Alpine Garden, the route becomes snow covered again.
