The Summit

We finally cleared the boulder field and climbed over one last snowbank (we lost the last 20 easy yards of the trail) and made the summit at about 1:00 PM. It was a beautiful afternoon, blue skies, 20 degrees and wind at 30 mph according to the observatory web site. I would estimate gusts at 40 mph or slightly higher but that is only a guess. It was cold and windy, this much I know. We went down behind the generator building to get out of the wind. Neither my cell phone (no signal) nor my digital camera worked (too cold). I took slides with my SLR and got two digital pictures before the digital camera died. After spending about 45 minutes on the summit, we headed down.
